When the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who was being celebrated all over, there were lots of unexpected offerings. For example, I didn't expect a multiple Doctor episode to be any good (based on previous experience); yet 'Day of the Doctor' was thoroughly enjoyable. I didn't expect to finally see a Eighth Doctor regeneration. I certainly didn't expect this piece of sheer beauty, and I didn't expect Google to celebrate the anniversary with such gusto.
Hmm. Rather a strange choice of image to go for. I mean, I get that retro is kind of cool at the moment, but... hang on, that Play button looks suspiciously like it ought to be clicked on...
Oh look, a Dalek destroyed everything. An 8-bit Dalek. how droll. That was fun...
Wait a minute. What happened here? I wonder what happens if I just click on...
Is this a game? It's a game. It's totally an 8-bit style game where you're playing as the first Doctor. I wonder if it's just one level?
Nope. There are lots of levels. Well, there are five.
You even regenerate into another Doctor every time you take a hit. It's interesting how they can each be made instantly recognisable in just a few pixels; clearly The Doctor is designed the same way as the enemies to be as memorable as possible.
So that was an awesome little discover last November. Thanks, Google! It doesn't really make up for the fact that you keep trying to merge all my accounts through YouTube and my Android phone in an attempt to destroy any separation between work, friends and family that I and most people like to employ, but it was appreciated none the less.

8-Bit recreation of 'The Invasion', I think. St Paul's cathedral is implied. |

'Revelation of the Daleks', perhaps? There were Daleks and a funeral home... |

Okay, I have no idea about this one. Just ignore my time. |

When you destroy the Dalek, the L pops out of its tank. Also ignore that fact that I clearly burned through a few lives getting from one side of the room to the other. |

And the Doctors dance with joy at having found all of the letters. Continue to ignore my time. |
