Level Design - C-List Saviour (Now in 3D)

Well, I finally managed to cobble together a 3D representation of the first level.

Mission One: P... P... P... Pick up a Porno!

The whole area is roughly scaled to be 200 ft by 200ft. the two narrow roads are 10ft wide, and the main street is 15ft wide.


This was my first experience with SketchUp, and I have to say, I was quite pleased. The tools available in the software make it fairly straightforward to turn a 2D plan into a 3D model. Plus there's a large repository of 3D models in the Warehouse that I was able to acquire (if any of them belong to you and you want to be credited, just let me know).

The software also has a nice feature that lets you create a walkthrough of your design.

• 00:00 - 00:05 - This is the first part of the level. The red figures represent paparazzi, who are trying to catch your character Bailey Rodgers. If Bailey is spotted by a paparazzi, it will alert others; Bailey will need to evade them, as every photograph the paparazzi take will damage Bailey's Twitter health. Bailey can be spotted through the gaps in the railings surrounding the courtyard, but there are shrubs and bins to hide behind.
• 00:07 - 'Barry's Gaff'. The first mission is to deliver some blue material to Barry the Ballbuster at this building.
• 00:09 - Bailey is represented by the yellow figure. Bailey starts off here, hidden behind an 8ft wall. Bailey will need to carefully peek around the wall in order to spot a chance to slip past the paparazzi in the courtyard unnoticed.
• 00:14 - 00:17 - An area where Bailey can hide behind the fence of the wheelie bin. A 'P' behind the wheelie bin represents a power up item.
• 00:21 - 00:23 - Several paparazzi patrol this area - the one nearest the wheelie bin only appears once you've acquired Barry the Ballbuster's blue magazine. Bailey's Twitter health will plummet more rapidly if photographed by paparazzi when in possession of the magazine. Shrubs and wheelie bins can be used to crouch behind in order to avoid the paparazzi.
• 00:24 - 00:29 - There are buildings you can enter which may contain cabinets to hide in, walls to hide behind, items and power ups - or paparazzi and fans.
• 00:29 - 00:37 - This building is the newsagents.A power up is hidden in one of the cabinets. There are also cars in the street that Bailey can crouch behind to evade pursuers.
• 00:38 - 00:43 - This street contains walls and cars that Bailey can crouch behind; which is just as well, because it also contains a paparazzo who is hiding out ready to catch Bailey! All paparazzi will pursue Bailey if spotted, but will stop and return to their normal sweeping patterns if they don't find Bailey within a certain time frame.
• 00:43 - 00:50 - This is the main street. Seems quiet... There are still wheelie bins to hide behind. 'Rainbow Pron Shop' is where Bailey will find the blue magazine that Barry the Ballbuster wants - this is represented by the white open book hovering near the floor. Alas, Bailey will also encounter a fan here. Fans will damage Bailey's Twitter health if they spot Bailey doing anything salacious, and they will follow you much like the paparazzi. However, Bailey can distract them by luring them towards the paparazzi; fans will hound the paparazzi instead, buying Bailey a few precious seconds to grab the naughty magazine.
• 00:51 - 00:53 - Bailey can hide behind these walls outside 'FoXXXy Sex Shop'.
• 0053 - 01:00 There are places to hide here, as well as a power up to obtain. However, if a fan or paparazzo spots you leaving, your Twitter health will plummet.
• 01:02 - 01:07 - Such as this one! This paparazzo patrols the whole street, and will enter 'Dodgy Dave's DVDs' and 'FoXXy Sex Shop' as well!
• 01:08 - 01:17 - The toilets. Bailey can enter either the Ladies or the Gents, because there are no actual laws governing such things. The Ladies' has a power up; the Gents' has a paparazzo. If Bailey is spotted exiting the toilet of the opposite gender, this will impact Bailey's Twitter health.
• 01:19 - 01:22 - There are walls around here which Bailey can use to try and dodge the patrolling paparazzi.
• 01:24 - 01:25 - This house can be used to hide from paparazzi and fans; Bailey can climb the ladder and exit on the other side. Bailey may be followed along this route if spotted quickly enough, however.
• 01:26 - 01:31 - The other narrow street, with wheelie bins and cars to hide behind. There is also an alleyway connecting both streets.
• 01:32 - Another quick look at 'Fags and Mags newsagents.
• 01:35 - 01:36 - 'Cosmic Joke Shop' has hiding places and a power up.
• 01:37 - 01:38 - The courtyard again. The gate blocking the way to 'Barry's Gaff' will open when Bailey is in possession of the blue material Barry the Ballbuster requires.
• 01:40 - 01:42 - Barry the Ballbuster is represented by the green figure. Handing him the porn will complete the mission and you can also acquire another power up.
